Meet the Governors

Our Governing Body

Picture 1

Our Governing Body is made up of 12 members.

This includes:

  • Head Teacher,
  • 1 staff member,
  • 1 Local Authority nominated governor,
  • 2 Parent Governors
  • 7 Co-opted Governors.

A governor will stand each year as Chair, and another as Vice-Chair.

We appoint governors based on the skills and experience that they can contribute to our governing body; parent governors are elected by the parents of the school. Each governor serves a term of 4 years, so they are able to get to know our school well and get involved in the school community.

We are currently seeking to fill two governor vacancies for co-opted governors (appointed by the governing body).

What do governors do?

Do you wonder what governors do for our school and what are the responsibilities they hold? Please see the document below, which shows how we contribute to the success of Holly Spring Infant and Nursery School. There are many areas of responsibility for the Head Teacher, but he will bring reports and updates to the governing body, and we will visit the school to see evidence for ourselves.

Objectives for this academic year

Each year, the governors agree their strategic objectives for the coming year. This year they are:

  • Recruitment of governors with appropriate skills, ideally creating community/ local business links.
  • Engage with all stakeholders
  • Fill gaps idenitifed from skills audit through recruitment and/ or training.
